I believe tablets will only replace laptops when they both offer the same ability for content creation. Tablets, in my opinion, are for consuming content. You read, you watch, you update social media. At the same time, even though I'm sure you can create and edit material, Laptops often all of these options AND the ability to really create material. You wouldn't edit a professionally filmed short on a tablet. You wouldn't design and get ready for print a 32 page magazine on a tablet.
The distinction is simple. Tablets are (presently) designed to drink the water out of the glass, while laptops and desktops are designed to pour the water in the glass.
